Editing Blog for filming music video

We finished filming last Saturday. Being that we filmed on our phones it took us all of our last class to dump all raw footage to our computer. We started by sending all the footage to our emails . Then we downloaded all the footage to computer . After downloading all footage to the computers we put it on my USB drive . We put on the drive just in case the computers crash and we have to change our computers . After dumping the footage we then downloaded the Mp3 on our song . We used an Mp3 converter to convert the song from you tube to a mp3 file .  After all this we made a folder on the computer desktop. We named it CKSK which is all our initials as the name of the folder created .
After this we opened pinnacle studios.
We used my login so we'll have a constant editing process in pinnacle studios . We then imported all the footage into pinnacle studios . After importing the footage into pinnacle studio we dropped a couple video footage's into track 2 and started to put them into order. We didn't have much time to continue editing during this class period . However next class we will hopefully finish editing . The following class we begin by changing out a clip . We had previously filmed a clip with someone else because one of our group mates so we had to redo a clip. Now that the clip is changed we put in the rest of the clips . We just continue to cut and crop the clips as we place them in order . After we finish adding in all the clips , we then finish the transitions. Certain xlips we had transitions to emphazise some . However others are used just going to be simple jump cuts .
Today we finished editing. We put all the clips in the correct order and cut down all extra shots. During this we learned how to rotate footage . While also learning the disadvantages and advantages of filming on our phone . If we filmed on our phones vertically then the shot would flip on pinnacle studios so we had to rotate a few films . After that we added the song and added the transitions to create a flow within the video . We all looked over the video and critiqued it , which lead to our final touches being made . We added the title last then exported the video . We saved a copy of the video on the computer and my USB to secure the file .

My Group members and I believed our filming process would go great because how well we had everything planned out . However it became hectic as issues occurred . One of our biggest issues was our camera not being charged enough . I forgot the camera wasn't previous charged and decided to put it on the charger 2 hours before filming . This only gave us 6 minutes of battery life in the camera. All of the camera battery then died on the way to picking up another group member . So we was stuck with trying to figure out how to film without a camera . Then i thought of the idea of using our phones . This made all our shots hand held shots with a few uses of the tripod .The idea of our blog was creating a video blog of a fun day with friends . Basically the idea of being a you-tuber , this came hand and hand with the use of video taping on our phone .

Another issue was the timing . Our original timing was to meet at galleria mall by 2:00 and be done by 5 . However a member of our group had work and the others weren't able to make it. so we changed the time to 2:45 , everyone was there except for one group member. This delayed our first shot. It delayed it so much that we tried to put in my little brother for the shot which ended up messing the shot up being that it had a different person from all the other shots . we started filming inside the mall we filmed our first shot and last shot in the mall before any other shots to use our time wisely .Then we began to become crunch on time because my job asked me to come in by 5. Mind you we didn't really start filming until 3-3:30. However we finished all our mall shots by 4:00 , This gave us 20-30 minutes to film at the beach . The beach is only 5 minutes from galleria. we ended up at the beach by 4:10 because it took us an additional 5 minutes to find parking . It took about 20 minutes to film at the beach . We began to have fun and we didn't wanna go so we ended up leaving the beach at 4:45 . This only gave me 15 minutes to get to work which i had to go home and then make it work . 

Other then our small issues our filming process went great . We followed the storyboard and we did all we had in the storyboard . we even added a few extra shots to make our music video fit its length. Im very happy my group members and i was prepared for filming and had minor issues that was easy to solve . Thankfully our storyboard was completely accurate this time . The accurate storyboard made our filming process much easier .Now we will have enough time to edit everything .

Our filming process should be a lot smoother . This time our storyboard is more accurate for every shot. Last time we had many mistakes when beginning to film . We forgot materials , messed up our storyboard and didn't listen when editing . Our filming process was quite hectic but we eventually figured it out . This time we will be prepared before actually filming . We are buying the props before and then storing them inside my car to make sure we have them the day of filming  . I am also going to get my car cleaned while also buying an aux cord .  The buying of the cord will allow us to listen to the music which well react to the music by dancing. We should be well prepared when we began filming . However we decided not to film this weekend . Instead we decided to film the Saturday during our thanksgiving which gives us extra time to film .
We will check out camera the Tuesday before Thanksgiving .  Thanksgiving begins on Wednesday and we'll be filming on Saturday . This was the best choice for the whole group because most of us have jobs and other homework. On Saturday we plan to meet up at galleria mall . This mall is close to the beach which gives us about a 5 minute  drive because we'll probably film about 6 seconds of the drive to create an establishing shot of Fort Lauderdale . We're excited to have a smooth filming process because our last one didn't go as planned . After we leave the mall we will go to the beach and create a miniature parties with our friends to show us having fun at the beach . The Storyboard is way more reliable .
We are excited to film on Saturday and create our production the following week.This filming process should go very smooth. Being that we decided to film this Saturday and not the previous Saturday may have shorten our time a bit . However we still have 3 full class periods of editing plus 2 extra if we come to this class during our study hall . We have fully prepared for this weekend . We have all asked our parents , bought our selected materials , and reviewed and revised our storyboard. It should only take us about 3 hours to film our music videos . However we will shoot extra shots if we have any mishaps. All in all our filming process should go as planned and have every aspect of our storyboard on it.

Storyboard Blog for music video

1. 1. Our customs will be casual everyday clothing. However, the lightening during this time period will be bright being that it’s the peak of the day. During all our scenes we won't wear makeup. Although we will use props such as our phone to play the music.  we will use a wide shot being that we want the mall scenery to be seen. Angles during this shot is a high angle to emphasize us making memories together. We probably a use a pan shot to create us in like an establishing shot of our scene. 

2. 2. They’re no custom change and the same lightening will be used. During this shot we will create a high shot because were dancing to the music. The dancing will be our acting. The setting of this will still be in the parking lot of galleria mall. 

3. 3. We are still in the casual clothing. We will use a point of view shot and it will be hand held being that I am encouraging them to come to the mall. We won't have any props during this scene. The setting will be us walking into galleria mall. This will also have a tracking shot because theyre walking up. 

4. 4. In this scene, our costume will be casual clothing. Lighting will be bright as this scene will be shot during the day. We will be walking towards the mall entrance so our backs will be turned. We will not be wearing makeup as in this scene our faces are not shown. There are no props in this scene. The setting will be us walking from the parking lot towards the mall entrance door. For this scene we will be using tracking shot and wide shot. 

5. 5.For this scene, there is no costume change. Lighting will be dim since we are inside the mall. Our acting, is us dancing as we’re looking through the store. There is no makeup used in this scene. Props are clothing in the store. Setting will be inside a store. We will be using medium shots, two people shot, and pan. 

6. 6. This scene has no costume change. Lighting will be dim. Our acting will be socializing amongst each other. We will not be using makeup in this scene. Our props will be shopping bags. Setting will be the escalators of the mall. We will use low angle. 

7. 7.In this scene, the costume will be casual, every day, clothing. We will be sitting in the car heading to the beach. The lighting in the scene will be natural daylight.  The scene will be taken on the tripod where the camera is stationary. The actors will be singing along and enjoying the featured song in the music video. No make-up will be used in this scene. 

8.  8.In this scene, the costume will still be casual everyday clothing. We will still be in the car driving to the beach. The movement of this scene will be a tracking shot of the City of Fort Lauderdale outside of the car window. There will be no acting in this scene. Because the actors will still be in the car there will be no props as well. The actors will also wear no make-up.  

9.  9.For this scene, the friends arrive at the beach. An establishing shot will be taken to show the setting. The actors are not shown in this scene. There will be no make-up used on the actors.  This will be our establishing shot for the beach.

10. 10.This scene is going to have us going into the bathroom or fitting rooms with our regular clothes and then leave the fitting room with beach clothes on. This shows that we are changing to go chill at the beach. This goes correspondingly with the vibes we want for our video. We won’t be acting in this shot and will use a wide shot. 

11. 11. In this scene we will be seen having fun at the beach. We won’t have any sound in this film except the song. We will make some of the lyrics concerning the beach match up to us at the beach. The props we will have are a beach towel, speaker, beach umbrella, cups, coolers, and food. We will have on the beach attire and just be seen having fun; laughter, smiling, and dancing included. This portrays the chill vibe of the song that we want to capture and we will use a wide shot. 

12. 12. In this shot we will be seen parting ways. After a long day of fun and creating memories with each other by just chilling with each other. We will be putting away the same props from last time. We will have the music fading out as we are leaving. This hints at the song ending and the day will be over. The sun should be setting around that time as well. We will use a wide shot for this.

My group mates and I chose three different locations to film at. Our music video begins at galleria which is a shopping mall close by. We'll start in the parking lot blasting Skywalker by Miguel, but not very loud because we don’t want to disturb any mall securities. We will then transition to inside the mail to buying beach wear which is our attire for the beach. After purchasing our beach wear, we will transition to the beach to have a little party amongst each other. However, we will ask permission from the store we go to film. If it rains or galleria ask us to leave, we will try a different mall and if it rains, we’ll just choose another day to do the beach scene. 

For our health and safety, we will make sure to wear seat belts while driving. We will do this because there are many consequences of driving without a seatbelt such as getting in an accident and flying through the windshield and getting a ticket. We will also look both ways before crossing any streets to avoid getting hit by a car and we will also make sure the driver will not text and drive. We will also not leave our belongings in the car because robbers would be able to see that and they might try to break into the car in order to get the items. These safety precautions will make sure to keep us safe during our filming process. 

We will have a good number of props. Our props will vary during our mall scenes we will have vary shopping bags filled with beach clothing to prepare us for our transition to the beach. At the beach we will have numerous of props to create the scene of having a party. Some of these props will include cups, a beach umbrella, beach towel, cooler and a speaker. Each group memeber would have to provide at least one prop. 

The costumes that we will wear are casual clothes. We are going to wear causal clothes in order to convey the chill vibes theme that we have throughout our video. We want to make sure that we don’t wear anything inappropriate as well, which is why we will make sure to keep the clothes we wear appropriate for school. We are going to switch clothes into our beach clothes for the beach. We are going to make sure that our beach clothes are not showing too much skin. For the girls, if they have a two-piece, they are going to wear something over that to cover it up. For me I will wear a t-shirt and some swimming trunks in order to convey the beach theme and be appropriate. These costumes are the most efficient way to keep our theme and to keep it school appropriate. 

We have a set schedule for the rest of our filming process. Today and our next class we have to finish our planning and story boarding process. Our next class isn't tomorrow because our days switch back and forth between our classes .Then we have to create a filming blog on whether we decide to film this weekend or not.  Which we decided to film on 11/30 during the thanksgiving break. This gives us 3 class periods to edit because our music video is due 12/09 . The created schedule gives us enough time to finish filming , editing and creating our music video before the due date . 

Sky Walker Music Video Research Blog

We submitted our commercial, finalized all edits and completed our creative critical research  . Somethings in the commercial that we are improving when filming our music video is story boarding accurately . During the commercial our storyboard didn't work out for us being that we had to long of a shot in a storyboard . This time we know that we will storyboard clearly so during filming we wont have have to re-think the whole production . Also timing and being prepared is very important in creating our production being that last time we almost missed our due date because we lacked materials. My group mates and I have already started planning our location and materials list.

The song that we are using is Sky Walker by Miguel. We are using this song because this is a very chill song that you can vibe to and that is what we were looking for. We can all relate to this song and we love the energy that it gives off. We like the chillness and we believe that we can really connect with this song. Not only can we connect with this song, but we also have a good story to go with the song. We instantly had ideas when we heard this song and that made us want to do this song even more. We all agree that this song is the best choice for us,

1. Costume: Casual clothing, party attire, formal attire ,beach attire to fit all our locations 

2. Lighting: Dim, low lighting. high lighting , sunny 

3. Acting: Dancing, conversations, choreography

4. Makeup :a lot of women had on makeup

R&B songs usually carry many conventions , However we plan on challenging some. Some conventions are different Sounds such as Score, ambient sound, and no sound. Another convention is the editing of the music video such as Flash pan, cutaway, dissolve, fade in, shot/reverse shot, eye-line match, and reaction shot. One more convention is the Camera angles/shots movements which could vary from long shot, medium long shot, close up, two shot, aerial shot, over-the-shoulder shot, tracking shot, and hand held. When filming our music video we plan to continue with the convention with the camera angles . However we plan on creating a smoother music video and challenging the normal R&B conventions. 

Final filming blog

Creating the commercial was an awesome task with some difficulties . It was awesome because it was something I have never done before . This was my first time creating my own film other than using my phone video recorder . I have learned many skills during the process of editing , filming and finishing the commercial . In the beginning my journey filming was quiet hectic . I didn’t understand how filming each shot in 6 seconds was such a hard job . The first day my group mates and i filmed we didn’t have any of the materials . Even-though we had two days to film one of the days had already wasted . Another part of our journey was critiquing the Story board . Our story board was much harder to complete then we thought this made us here disagreements on the new story board . 

However we knew that our idea of pure life water bringing life to Fort Lauderdale High was still in tact . Our next filming day i came up with the idea of sharing a water around school . This filming process took our whole other filming day which gave me minimal time to drop the raw footage to the computer .A main reason it took so long was because i filmed way more shots then needed . This  made me grateful that i had purchased my own SD card . The purchase of my own SD card gave me the ability to drop my footage the next day . After finishing the filming of all raw footage the next day was editing. Editing took a longer time because the first day the computers weren’t working .Not only was they not working but pinnacle studios weren’t downloaded on them . Our timing was already pushed back due to the extra time we took filming because i lacked being prepared. The delay of pinnacle studios pushed back our due date by a few days because our lack of ability to edit . 

The editing process came next as we finished filming and the computer was up and running . The editing process took kind of long because i wasn’t use to using such features to edit . Even -though our teach had taught us how to use pinnacle studios it was still hard to learn all the roads of it . The first shot edited was our establishing shot of our school. This is the basis of the whole commercial being that pure life water gives life to FLHS. The idea was finally coming through as i completed the editing process. The film stared my group mates , class members and a teacher . This was to present the idea of sharing a water around FLHS. Soon enough we completed our idea into the commercial . It included all aspects that we wanted to capture and i even added ambient sound of a school to the background of the commercial. 

Editing Blog

Today my group and I was suppose to be editing . However we were behind on filming because I was late to last class and we lacked materials. The materials we lacked were the cooler and Ice which we ended up not using . We was also behind in the editing process because we were missing a group member . Which means that I had to film the whole film while shania stared inside the film . The class before we had only filmed one shot which made us have a lot to film today . This gave me minimum time to edit and dump all film onto our computer. After finishing filming we returned to class at 10:35 however class ended at 10:50 .Which didn't give us much time to drop our raw footage. Raw footage is any footage that was previously filmed being that the film isn't edited .
However once making it to class we received some devastating news.The news was that the computer editing software was down . Pinnacle Studios is software which is automatically downloaded on our computers in class . At the beginning of the year our teacher gave a us a tutorial on how to edit . Including the opening of a folder to store footage to exporting your project. The tutorial gave the class all the necessities to make our greatest commercials. However today when it was time to put our knowledge to the test our computers were not up to the task . First many of the computers took longer than expected time to come up . Such as our Computer since we arrived at 10:35 we only had 15 mins to dump and import. The computer took 10 of those minutes just to load to our login screen.
This resulted in my group members and I not being able to edit until next class.
The editing crisis made it grateful that i shot extra film because with the extra footage we used our time wisely . Since the editing was not able to happen we could only try to dump our footage into our folder . Dumping is when you take your footage off your camera on to a computer. The editing and filming process was quiet difficult for my group for many reasons . One reason is our lack of materials pushed out filming back which delayed our editing . This caused us to shoot most of our film on Monday instead of Thursday . Another reason was our missing group member which added more work to shania and I . lastly , Our software being down on the computer . All thest reasons contributed to our hetic editing process

Filming Process

The filming process was quit hectic . My Group and I ran into numerous of problems including missing materials and disagreeing with what should be next . We mostly forgot that filming was Thursday .Materials was a main problem , because we left everything at home. We were suppose to have Pure life water bottles because our slogan is water brings life to Fort Lauderdale High school. Plus the water bottles are our main topic of the commercial.  We was also missing the cooler which was suppose to be filled with water when splashing the L . We had a water bottle however it wasn't big enough to splash the L on the senior Patio. Also the L on the student patio dried pretty quickly for us to be using such a small thing of water . Now we choose to create a list for Monday filming so we wont miss any materials .We had numerous missing Materials which we are going to have to make up for on Monday.
As we had numerous of missing materials we started to have disagreements about our original story bored . Once we started to filming we noticed how hard it had gotten to film certain parts of our story board without having the water . So we changed the first story board to an establishing shot . Then we were trying to splash the L and get the right film , However we didn't have enough water . So we decided that we'll do the splashing of  the L on Monday  and everything else on Monday. That includes the passing of the water to students and finishing the dumping of our film. Most of our film production had to get pushed back to Monday. This would only tighten our schedule for editing our commercial . As missing materials wasn't the only thing that made our filming process but our disagreements on the next part of our commercial .
My group and I disagreed largely on what should go next being that we was missing materials. We changed our original first two person shot to an establishing shit of our senior Patio. Next we came to a halt because we had ran out of "Nestle Pure Life " which is the water brand were promoting . so we ended using one bottle and taking the label off and replacing the labels of the other bottles we had . So , our next shot was shania jumping and someone throwing the water to her . We had to practice this a couple of times because she had to get use to catching a bottle water. After that our new storyboard became easy to figuring out the next parts . However our lack of materials still played a part of how we would continue to create our follow up scenes . Our filming process was very difficult and it took us 2 days to complete unlike other groups. After we passed most of obstacles the filming process got entirely easier .

Story Board for commercial

My group has decided for the commercial to start off with an FLHS, Fort Lauderdale High, cheer leader. The cheer leader will look sad, “dead”, and will then drink the pure life water and be “brought back to life”. This cheer leader will then give the water to an FLHS student looking “dead” and will take a sip of the pure life water and be “brought back to life” as well. This process will be repeated two more times with the cheer leader giving the water bottle to a “dead” looking FLHS guidance counselor and administrator. When they get the pure life water bottle they will the be “brought back to life as well. For the final scene we will splash the Flying L sign on our senior patio with pure life water and say “Pure life brings life to Fort Lauderdale High”. For the first scene with the cheer leader drinking the water we will use a hand held and medium shot. For the second, third and fourth scene we will use a hand-held shot, wide shot and a two-shot. For the last scene we will use a high angle and a wide shot to show the whole Flying L symbol and the water being thrown. All scenes except for the last one will have a score sound track to enhance the commercial and engage the audience, while the last scene will have dialogue.

Editing Blog Lesson

To begin when checking out a camera you fill out a sheet for you and your group. When starting to edit camera footage you begin by opening pinnacle studios. However before editing , You create a folder to store the footage on the computer . The footage from your camera can be uploaded using a SD reader.Usually when uploaded from the SD card reader the footage will be stored in the DCIM folder . Although sometimes the footage may not be available in the DCIM folder and might be found when going to private , then AVICHD , and then go to stream to find any footage that is not in the DCIM folder . In order to dump the footage on to the computer you must highlight the footage them move it to a folder . You must use the same computer to edit each time when editing . Using the same computer is useful because pinnacle studies typically do not recognize jump drives and typically only recognizes desktop files .
 If in a group you will only be able to use one log in which would store the edits . Which  means when logging into pinnacle studies for the first time you have to set a constant group members log in . you have to begin by importing the footage from your computer to pinnacle studies. You press the + sign which gives you a drop down option of all the folders on the computer. Which means you might want to import all footage taken that day . Only all footage that is checked will be imported after clicking start import. Raw footage will probably be the only thing imported which is anything that was previously filmed . The raw footage would be imported into the AV track 2 . The first AV track is titles while the third AV track is sound . Expand the picture by using the numbers at the bottom or even double click the picture . 
Editing varies of enhancement could include cutting a clip by clicking the razor  blade. If you want to add transitions or effects , right click on the clip then it will open effects editor to do transitions or effects which include changing colors. If wanting to edit the title you must press the uppercase T . A screen will pop up which gives you the ability to edit the color and font . When saving your edits you must save a copy to your desktop by going to file and saving it to your folder . However when your completely done you can export your project by making sure to save it as impeg 4 and full file size . Make sure to name the footage after your project name .

Planning Blog for water commercial

Props

• Pure life water because it is the brand of water for the commercial. That is the only prop that we need for this commercial to work. 

Costumes 

• One of my team mates, Shania, will wear their cheer uniform because they are going to be apart of the commercial. 
• Me and the other team mate, Chad will wear Fort Lauderdale High School gear in order to represent the school in the commercial. 
• While the other people in the video will wear their typical school clothes. That will create a more realistic scene than having everyone wearing the same clothes, making it look rehearsed.

Schedule

• This class was a period to create our plans such as: costumes, props and the ideas of what we are going to do for the commercial. 
• Next class period we make storyboards
• After that we go through the filming process
• Then Finally we go through the editing phase

Location 

• Start:  the senior patio to display the water on the Flying L
• next: the hall way which is the exchange of water from students 
• next : the guidance office the exchange of water to a guidance counselor 
• next : the class room which is the exchange of water between teacher and student

Back up plan 

• if it begins  raining we will move the picture of the water to the stairway in front of the media center 
• if the guidance arent willing to participate well ask other administration 
• if students are missing well just replace them with other students 

research blog : commercial conventions

My group and I have decided to do a commercial on pure life water . we began research by searching up similarities in water commercials . We noticed that every commercial included water and mostly people. However most commercials only featured the condensation from the water bottle or even just a display of the water bottle. An example would be the fiji commercial . The fiji commercial only included the bottle with features of the fiji island. Instead of fiji we decided on pure life because we wanted to create a main idea that water brings life to Fort Lauderdale high school . 

We also noticed that many commercials included people quenching their thirst . In many videos Water is used as a source of energy to people working out or even just normal day to day life . In some videos water is just represented as droplets . However water is mostly thought to be thirst quencher that satisfies people thirst.

  

Introductory

Hey , my name is Kaliyah However all my friends call me liyah. I am In 11th grade at Fort Lauderdale High school. I intend to graduate next year. My education is very important to me i have always assumed that knowledge is power and my mom continuously push me to succeed in my academics.

Right now my schedule is pretty busy . i have 5 Aice Cambridge classes including Aice marine , Aice physical education, Aice English,Aice thinking skills , and Aice media all in efforts to get my Aice diploma . The other 3 classes are honor classes which include United States history , leadership ,and study hall. Leadership is my favorite because I am involved in the club student government. I am actually the historian of class of 2021 which makes me in charge of all communication with the student body.

Something else i enjoy is hanging with family and friends i live with my mom and dog named KOKO  . My friends always come over , sometimes they bring their dogs over and we have a play date . A lot of times on the weekend my friends and I hang out at the movies or bowling alley  . we all love to have fun together and try new things .  I have a a lot of interest this is just a snippet of my life.
